Maximum Games, the developers of Alekhine’s Gun have announced today that the Cold War stealth game, which was originally supposed to launch next week, will now release on February 9th. The reason for the delay is down to the publishers desire for a comprehensive, synchronized global launch.
“With Alekhine’s Gun being our first intellectual property as publishers, we want its unveiling to match the excitement generated around this title,” said Christina Seelye, CEO of Maximum Games. “Given the support we are seeing from gamers around the globe who are eagerly awaiting Alekhine’s Gun, we feel this game deserves an all-encompassing worldwide launch.”
Alekhine’s Gun takes place during the Cold War – from the end of WWII through the 1960s, putting players in the shoes of ex-KGB assassin, Agent Alekhine, as he teams up with the CIA to unravel a deadly conspiracy. Featuring classic stealth maneuvers, gameplay based around choice, wide-open levels, and a range of weapons and disguises, Alekhine’s Gun adds an intriguing layer to the stealth genre by placing characters in a historical framework.
Alekhine’s Gun will release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in North and South America on February 9, 2016. Partnered with Kiss Ltd., a UK-based digital distribution company, the game will be available globally on STEAM the same day. European distribution of the console versions is also set for February 9th, and the partner for that release will be announced at a later date.
