Today, THQ Nordic announced that it has acquired 3 new I.P’s after agreements with Mobile Gaming Studio Ltd. and Enigma Software Productions S.L. were officially closed.
THQ Nordic, who have made a habit of snapping up intellectual properties recently, including Red Faction, Destroy all Humans! and Darksiders today acquired third person action-adventure Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy), originally released for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube, turn-based strategy PC title War Leaders: Clash of Nations in addition to Legends of War, a turn-based strategy game released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PS Portable.
“These are not financially material acquisitions, but due to our love for these types of games they were natural acquisition targets that add up to our portfolio. Moreover, we also got a lot of messages from fans that encouraged us to add them. Among these titles, Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) is very well suited for the Nintendo audience – which we love to support,” said Lars Wingefors, founder and THQ Nordic CEO.
Additionally, in the same statement Wingefors also confirmed the companies interest in Nintendo Switch, confirming that THQ Nordic already had 2 games in development for the recently announced hybrid console, “We are excited for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo’s new platform, and already have two other projects in development for it.”
