2K have accidentally leaked a major Mafia 3 announcement via their official Facebook page, quickly removed, the short post announced that a follow up to the hugely popular gangster classic Mafia 2, which was released in 2010 would be revealed on the 5th of August during Gamescom. Mafia 2, which was released across multiple platforms including the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in 2010 followed Vito Scaletta, a war veteran who becomes entangled with the Mafia while attempting to pay back his father’s debts. Set in the fictional city of Empire Bay which was loosely based on various cities across the United States, Mafia 2 was praised for having a great single player storyline.
2K’s quick attempts to remove the Facebook post wasn’t enough to quell the masses, later they posted an announcement via Twitter and have since then re-posted the same announcement to their Facebook Page.
