Gamescom 2016 will not feature a Media Briefing from Xbox this year, General Manager for Xbox Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg has revealed via XboxWire.
Instead, the company intends to offer a more intimate player experience with an Xbox Fanfest. Greenberg also confirmed that a whole bunch of Xbox One and Windows 10 titles will be playable at Gamescom 2016 in Cologne which runs August 18-24 with the likes of Gears of War 4, Recore, Forza Horizon and Sea of Thieves plus a host of ID@Xbox games including We Happy Few, Cuphead and Everspace all available to play at various demo booths.
“Our E3 announcements showed Xbox’s commitment to offering gamers a future that goes beyond console generations and one that offers them the choice and freedom to play the games they want, with the people they want and on the devices they want. At gamescom 2016 we’re excited to bring even more of these experiences into the hands of our fans. gamescom is always one of my favourite shows, and I’m excited to attend and spend time with everyone in Cologne.” said Greenberg
Microsoft and Xbox’s decision to forgo a Media Briefing instead opting for a Fanfest signifies a significant change from last year’s event, in which the company held a Media Briefing and showcased future titles Rise of the Tomb Raider, Homefront: The Revolution, Just Cause 3 and Dark Souls III.
