Alien: Covenant Will Get Its Own Virtual Reality Experience

Alien: Covenant, the latest film in the hugely popular Alien franchise launches in theatres worldwide on May 19th, and today we learn that Ridley Scott’s latest terrifying instalment will get its very own virtual reality experience.

As reported by The Verge, 20th Century Fox has announced that it is developing a VR experience based around the upcoming movie, and whilst Covenant is directed by Ridley Scott, the VR experience is to be directed by David Karlak as part of a collaboration between Scott’s RSA Films, virtual reality production house MPC VR, and Fox Innovation Lab.

The Alien franchise, which began in 1979 with Ridley Scott at the helm has often been seen as the perfect platform for a virtual reality experience, and with the upcoming project, players will soon be able to experience the terror of the franchise with an immersive encounter described as a “dread-inducing journey into the depths of the Alien universe.”

Alien: Covenant‘s VR project will be released this year, although details on platforms have yet to be announced with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PSVR all possibilities.

Better known as RzrsS in the video game scene, Stephan Rodts has been playing video games for nearly his entire life. He started out shooting poor ducks out of the sky in Duck Hunt on the Nintendo, but now shoots everything that moves. Be warned.
