5 PlayStation 4 Exclusives You Don’t Want To Miss Out On In 2016

At the beginning of the year, Sony Computer Entertainment released a short trailer video detailing twenty of the companies PlayStation 4 and Console Exclusives scheduled for release in 2016, a trailer that included great titles with Street Fighter V, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Hellblade all heavily featured. We’re now in April and almost a third of the way through the current year and the PlayStation 4 already feels enriched with amazing titles such as the Ratchet and Clank reboot, console exclusive’s Firewatch and The Witness plus Street Fighter V, but there are so many more great titles heading the way of PlayStation 4 users throughout the remaining months of 2016. We’ve compiled a list of five PlayStation 4 Exclusives launching this year that you won’t want to miss out on.

no mans sky

No Man’s Sky: Hello Games, open world Console Exclusive, No Mans Sky launches June 21st. The highly anticipated title blew away attendees at 2014’s E3 Conference and see’s players taking on the role of a planetary explorer in a previously uncharted galaxy. No Man’s Sky’s protagonist will be able to travel between various planets within the galaxy via spacecraft and will be able to engage in combat with other space-faring vessels. Players will be equipped with a spacesuit and jetpack, which allows the character to scan, mine and collect various resources as well as the ability to attack and defend against creatures and other entities that reside on each planet. No Man’s Sky looks to be a beautiful game and with the gameplay shown so far this year is certain to be one of the PlayStation 4 titles of 2016.

Nier Automata: A spin-off from the Drakengard series, Nier Automata is an upcoming action role-playing game currently being developed by Platinum Games (Transformers Devastation, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance). Set in the same universe as the previous game, Nier, Automata is set sometime during the Machine Wars, with humanity struggling to survive the onslaught of an alien race. Nier Automata looks incredible and will certainly grab the attention of PlayStation users with the ability to control a multitude of different characters and some really strong action-based gameplay not to mention the ability to rotate the in-game camera a full 360 degrees. With each new playthrough and story route chosen, different characters will also become available. Published by Square Enix, Nier Automata is scheduled to launch sometime this year and will be a PlayStation 4 Exclusive.

The Last Guardian: The Last Guardian has been a long time coming, too long for some. Originally announced way back in 2009 at E3 and in development since 2007, The Last Guardian or as it’s known in Japan, Hitokui no Ōwashi Trico tells the story of a young boy who befriends a giant bird, dog, and cat hybrid creature named Trico. The unlikely pair must work together in order to avoid the attention of guards that are hunting them down. The Last Guardian see’s players controlling the young protagonist who is able to manipulate his newly found friend Trico, much like you would a real animal. Trico can be lured with a variety of food and can be used as a way of climbing to reach high platforms and other remote areas. The Last Guardian is a visually stunning puzzle-based action title that includes various encounters with enemies that will seek to impede the pairs progress. Even with its lengthy delays or “development hell” The Last Guardian is sure to be a standout game of 2016 and will also be a PlayStation 4 Exclusive.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End: Developers, Naughty Dog return on May 10th with what is likely to be Nathan Drakes swansong in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The hugely popular series return see’s “Nate” now retired from fortune hunting and enjoying a somewhat relaxing and normal life with his wife Elena Fisher. Drakes life is all too quickly turned upside down when older brother Sam, who was long believed to be dead reappears seeking Drake’s help. The reacquainted brothers embark on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a conspiracy behind Libertalia, a long lost pirate colony, and its fabled pooled pirate treasure. Speaking about Drakes return Naughty Dog stated that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be “his greatest adventure yet” with Uncharted 4 set to “test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately, what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves”.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has suffered launch delays, the most recent delay for “manufacturing reasons” however, this is one title that players would be prepared to wait for. Uncharted is a flagship franchise for Sony and the PlayStation 4, the fourth title in the popular series is set to be one of the games of 2016.

Horizon: Zero Dawn: Developed by Guerilla Games – the studio behind the KillZone series, Horizon: Zero Dawn is an action role-playing game set 1,000 years in the future with humanity abandoning Earth after large robotic creatures begin to attack and dominate the planet. Players take control of hunter and archer Aloy as she makes her way throughout the post-apocalyptic land. With role-playing elements akin to that of the Assasin’s Creed series and Skyrim, Horizon: Zero Dawn is written by John Gonzalez who’s previous work includes Fallout New Vegas. In development since 2011, Zero Dawn’s amazing concept explores the contrasting effects of living life surrounded by the constant danger of the robotic creatures while set inside a beautiful world, where humans are no longer top of the food chain. Due to launch this year, Horizon: Zero Dawn is a PlayStation 4 Exclusive and sure to be a game not to be missed.
