Now here is a recap of how the standings in the EU LCS looked after week 8.
- Fnatic (16-0)
- Origen (11-5)
- H2K (10-6)
- Unicorns of Love (8-8)
- Gambit Gaming (7-9)
- Giants Gaming (7-9)
- ROCCAT (7-9)
- Elements (6-10)
- SK Gaming (5-11)
- Copenhagen Wolves (3-13)
Alright let’s get into week 9, and this week’s the most used champion from the EU was, “Gragas, the Rabble Rouser”.
Fnatic – Game 1 vs SK Gaming: Champions played; Huni (Fizz) 7/1/8, Reignover (Rek’Sai) 2/3/13, Febiven (Twisted Fate) 8/0/9, Rekkles (Tristana) 7/1/6, YellOwStaR (Trundle) 1/1/19. A dominant win for Fnatic, with a surprise support pick for YellOwStaR that paid dividends. Fnatic just need one more win now to have a first ever undefeated season, will they be able to do it? Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Unicorns of Love: Champions played; Huni (Ryze) 12/3/1, Reignover (Gragas) 1/0/9, Febiven (Varus) 0/2/5, Rekkles (Corki) 4/0/9, and YellOwStaR (Trundle) 0/0/10. The answer to that is yes, after what was definitely a rough opening start with Huni getting ganked several times, Fnatic met UOL’s aggression with aggression of their own and claimed their perfect season, a feat that has never been done in the EU or NA LCS until now. Congrats to Fnatic. Result: Win. (2-0 on the week)
Origen – Game 1 vs H2K: Champions played; SoaZ (Lulu) 4/1/11, Amazing (Rek’Sai) 1/5/7, xPeke (Viktor) 5/1/9, Niels (Corki) 5/3/6, and Mithy (Shen) 2/2/10. A bad start to the game for Origen, in which H2K got off to a early lead, but Origen had the better team composition for team fights which allowed them to win them later and as well as winning the game. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs ROCCAT: Champions played; SoaZ (Fizz) 2/2/2, Amazing (Rek’Sai) 0/3/1, xPeke (Twisted Fate) 2/4/2, Niels (Sivir) 0/2/0, and Mithy (Shen) 0/3/4. A final week rematch against ROCCAT who was the first team to beat Origen, however ROCCAT would be able to win yet again with dominant team play. Result: Loss. (1-1 on the week)
H2K – Game 1 vs Origen: Champions played; Odoamne (Fizz) 1/4/7, Loulex (Gragas) 0/3/8, Ryu (Twisted Fate) 3/3/7, Hjarnan (Kalista) 6/4/4, and kaSing (Tresh) 2/3/9. A disappointing game for H2K as well as for myself, after what was a great early opening H2K just fell behind and didn’t have as good of team fighting champions as Origen. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs Gambit Gaming: Champions played; Odoamne (Rumble) 2/2/9, Loulex (Gragas) 2/3/10, Ryu (Ahri) 3/2/4, Hjarnan (Tristana) 7/0/3, and kaSing (Alistar) 1/2/8. It was a good game and good bounce back win for H2K against Gambit before heading into the playoffs in which they will be the 3rd seed team. Result: Win. (1-1 on the week)
Unicorns of Love – Game 1 vs Giants Gaming: Champions played; Vizicsacsi (Maokai) 1/2/6, Gilius (Gragas) 2/6/9, PowerOfEvil (Syndra) 5/2/4, Vardags (Graves) 4/2/6, and Hylissang (Annie) 1/3/7. A very close game by both teams, in which UOL was actually behind toward the end however a call for a major push into the base of Giants resulted in a bad call coming from Giants letting UOL grab the victory. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Fnatic: Champions played; Vizicsacsi (Poppy) 2/4/1, Gilius (Rengar) 2/2/3, PowerOfEvil (Kog’Maw) 1/3/2, Vardags (Sivir) 0/3/0, and Hylissang (Alistar) 0/5/1. A game in which UOL did try and play spoiler to Fnatic to hand them their one and only loss, but even after a good opening game, Fnatic proved to strong for UOL and they were not able to give Fnatic their first loss. Result: Loss. (1-1 on the week)
Gambit Gaming – Game 1 vs Elements: Champions played; Cabochard (Kennen) 8/2/2, Diamondprox (Gragas) 0/3/7, Betsy (Varus) 4/2/6, Moopz (Corki) 3/2/6, and Gosu Pepper (Alistar) 0/6/9. Gambit was looking for a win over Elements to help them get into the playoffs and they almost had it as well as it was a close match for both teams and one of the longest played games this season, but in the end it was Elements who secured the win and not Gambit. Gambit was also without their normal AD Carry who got suspended due to negative behavior. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs H2K: Champions played; Cabochard (Fizz) 4/6/1, Diamondprox (Rek’Sai) 1/3/5, Betsy (Jayce) 2/2/3, Moopz (Corki) 2/2/3, and Gosu Pepper (Morgana) 0/2/6. Gambit was not out of the playoff race yet however as they could still win their game against H2K, however that to was not the case as H2K won, and Gambit’s playoff hopes were shattered. Result: Loss. (0-2 on the week)
Giants Gaming – Game 1 vs Unicorns of Love: Champions played; Werlyb (Jax) 5/6/7, Fr3deric (Rek’Sai) 2/6/10, PepiiNeRO (Viktor) 2/0/4, Adryh (Sivir) 3/0/4, and G0DFRED (Tresh) 3/1/8. A really sad loss for Giants who had this game well in control and another game that ended in a base race, a race which Giants should have won, but a questionable call to send Werlyb on his Jax back to defend instead of Pepii cost them the game. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs Copenhagen Wolves: Champions played; Werlyb (Ryze) 5/4/4, Fr3deric (Gragas) 1/3/8, PepiiNeRO (Varus) 4/0/4, Adryh (Ezreal) 4/2/7, and G0DFRED (Alistar) 0/3/8. A game in which Giants were behind for most of the mounted a great response to several key situations and ultimately won the game and crushed the Wolves hopes of a tiebreaker with SK. Result: Win. (1-1 on the week)
ROCCAT – Game 1 vs Copenhagen Wolves: Champions played; Steve (Rumble) 0/1/3, Jankos (Gragas) 2/1/1, Nukeduck (Azir) 2/0/2, MrRalleZ (Sivir) 0/0/2, and Vander (Alistar) 0/1/2. Like most of the other teams ROCCAT needed a good win for a chance to get into the playoffs, that win would not come against the Wolves who beat ROCCAT in what was essentially a 5v1 “base race”. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs Origen: Champions played; Steve (Maokai) 3/1/9, Jankos (Nidalee) 5/0/7, Nukeduck (Yasuo) 1/2/8, MrRalleZ (Kalista) 4/0/5, and Vander (Alistar) 1/1/12. ROCCAT ends up doing it again and pick themselves up a berth in the playoffs by once again beating Origen in what was a pretty convincing win. Result: Win. (1-1 on the week)
Elements – Game 1 vs Gambit Gaming: Champions played; Jwaow (Rumble) 3/3/10, Dexter (Rek’Sai) 1/3/12, Froggen (Kog’Maw) 2/6/10, Tabzz (Sivir) 5/0/5, and Nyph (Tresh) 4/3/7. A well played game from Elements who just need to win their final game against SK and they will be able to get into the playoffs or at least force a tiebreaker. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs SK Gaming: Champions played; Jwaow (Rumble) 2/6/5, Dexter (Rek’Sai) 0/3/4, Froggen (Varus) 2/2/4, Tabzz (Kalista) 5/3/2, and Nyph (Alistar) 0/8/6. Along with Gambit, now Elements hopes of making it into the playoffs were crushed by this loss to SK Gaming and ROCCAT’s win over Origen. Result: Loss. (1-1 on the week)
SK Gaming – Game 1 vs Fnatic: Champions played; fredy122 (Maokai) 0/6/1, Svenskeren (Gragas) 1/5/3, Fox (Jayce) 3/4/1, CandyPanda (Corki) 2/5/2, and nRated (Lulu) 0/5/2. A dominating game from Fnatic handed SK another loss, and possibility of a tie breaker for relegation after the Wolves win over ROCCAT. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs Elements: Champions played; fredy122 (Tahm Kench) 2/1/11, Svenskeren (Gragas) 4/2/10, Fox (Irelia) 5/3/9, CandyPanda (Corki) 11/0/7, and nRated (Nautilus) 0/3/16. SK get a good win the last game of the season as well as play spoiler to Elements by keeping them out of the summer playoffs. They also give the crowd their first taste of seeing “Tahm Kench” in the LCS. Result: Win. (1-1 on the week)
Copenhagen Wolves – Game 1 vs ROCCAT: Champions played; Lenny (Shen) 0/1/2, Shook (Nidalee) 1/1/1, Soren (Irelia) 1/2/0, Freeze (Kalista) 1/0/1, and Je suis Kaas (Morgana) 0/0/2. A great win off a “base race” by Lenny pushing the bot lane, to keep them in shot of being able to tie SK Gaming for last place. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Giants Gaming: Champions played; Lenny (Shen) 1/3/6, Shook (Elise) 2/4/6, Soren (Viktor) 2/1/3, Freeze (Sivir) 7/1/3, and Je suis Kaas (Tresh) 0/5/9. Sadly the Wolves fall short as Giants were able to muscle their way past the Wolves defenses late game and cause the Wolves to lose their spot in the EU LCS for 2016. Result: Loss. (1-1 on the week)
And that wraps up the recap of the final week in the EU LCS, as Fnatic unbeaten in the summer season. There would be one *tiebreaker* game between ROCCAT and Giants Gaming to determine who would be the 5th and 6th seed in the playoffs, with ROCCAT winning and taking the 5th seed. Here are how the rest of the standings are looking.
- Fnatic (18-0)
- Origen (12-6)
- H2K (11-7)
- Unicorns of Love (9-9)
- ROCCAT (8-10) *(9-10)*
- Giants Gaming (8-10) *(8-11)*
- Elements (7-11)
- Gambit Gaming (7-11)
- SK Gaming (6-12)
- Copenhagen Wolves (4-14)
The EU LCS summer playoffs will be starting in two weeks time, and the top six teams of the summer will be competing with the winner securing a spot in Worlds. The six teams in the EU playoffs are as follows; Fnatic, Origen, H2K, Unicorns of Love, ROCCAT, and Giants Gaming. Here is a look at the playoff bracket.
And this week’s featured match-up is the game between Copenhagen Wolves and ROCCAT. A close game right from the start, with definite mistakes being made by both sides, but a call by both teams at the end of the games to do what is called “a base race” ends in well…you’ll just have to see for yourself. Enjoy!!
And now we head over to the NA LCS, where those six teams that have been battling it out for playoff seeding has finally been decided. Here are the standings for NA after week 8.
- Gravity (12-4)
- Team Impulse (11-5)
- (CLG) Counter Logic Gaming (11-5)
- Team Liquid (11-5)
- (TSM) Team Solo Mid (10-6)
- Team Dignitas (9-7)
- Team 8 (6-10)
- Cloud 9 (5-11)
- Enemy Esports (4-12)
- (TDK) Team Dragon Knights (1-15)
And now let’s get into week 9 for the NA LCS, and the most used champion this week in NA was also “Gragas”, so we will go with the second most used champion which was “Sivir, the Battle Mistress”.
Gravity – Game 1 vs Team Impulse: Champions played; Hauntzer (Maokai) 3/4/4, Move (Nidalee) 3/5/5, Keane (Orianna) 1/4/1, Altec (Lucian) 1/5/6, Bunny FuFuu (Janna) 0/4/6. A loss against Impulse is a major blow to Gravity coming into playoffs, they seemed to be not playing to the level they previously were, and seem to be acting like 5 individual players rather as a team. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs TDK: Champions played; Hauntzer (Rumble) 2/3/1, Move (Gragas) 2/5/3, Keane (Jarvan) 0/4/5, Altec (Sivir) 1/5/2, Bunny FuFuu (Shen) 1/4/5. What was already a bad week for Gravity has gotten even worse, now losing to TDK, the 10th place team in NA. To make matters worse they have gone from the 1st place team down to 4th in just this week. Result: Loss. (0-2 on the week)
Team Impulse – Game 1 vs Gravity: Champions played; Impact (Shen) 3/0/16, Rush (Evelynn) 9/3/10, Gate (Azir) 4/1/8, Apollo (Sivir) 6/2/10, and Adrian (Alistar) 0/2/17. Impulse put up a win over Gravity despite their mid lane player XiaoWeiXiao getting banned from play this week for “Elo boosting”. Gate switched to mid for the time being, Adrian came back as support, and Rush dominated Gravity’s jungle to give them an edge in Impulse’s win. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Team Liquid: Champions played; Impact (Gnar) 6/4/16, Rush (Lee Sin) 4/7/18, Gate (Viktor) 10/6/9, Apollo (Kog’Maw) 7/5/14, and Adrian (Janna) 0/4/25. A tough loss, but a close game against Liquid, a game which if they would have won would of meant that Impulse would have had a chance to grab that first seed in the playoffs . Result: Loss. (1-1 on the week)
CLG – Game 1 vs Team Dignitas: Champions played; ZionSpartan (Olaf) 5/2/8, Xmithie (Gragas) 3/0/9, Pobelter (Ezreal) 2/1/11, Doublelift (Tristana) 9/3/7, and Aphromoo (Alistar) 1/3/16. A pretty clean cut game over Dignitas as CLG get win, CLG are starting to look good for once heading into playoffs. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Team 8: Champions played; ZionSpartan (Olaf) 11/3/4, Xmithie (Gragas) 1/0/12, Pobelter (Twisted Fate) 0/3/7, Doublelift (Ezreal) 8/0/10, and Aphromoo (Janna) 1/0/17. And with this win CLG are ready for playoffs and will receive the 2nd seed in the playoff brackets which means a first round bye. Result: Win. (2-0 on the week)
Team Liquid – Game 1 vs Team 8: Champions played; Quas (Maokai) 4/2/5, IWDominate (Nidalee) 1/1/4, FeniX (Orianna) 2/1/6, Piglet (Kog’Maw) 5/1/6, and Xpecial (Janna) 0/1/10. A pretty easy win for Liquid only encountering a little resistance from the mid and ADC of Team 8, as with CLG, Liquid look primed for playoffs. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Team Impulse: Champions played; Quas (Maokai) 5/4/15, IWDominate (Gragas) 4/5/19, FeniX (Azir) 8/6/12, Piglet (Sivir) 7/4/13, and Xpecial (Annie) 2/8/17. A really close game for Liquid over Impulse, but Liquid did manage to get the win in the end, because of a crazy team fight near the ned of the game that allowed them to secure a baron and push for the win. And because of this win they are now the first seeded team in NA for the playoffs. Result: Win. (2-0 on the week)
TSM – Game 1 vs Enemy Esports: Champions played; Dyrus (Maokai) 3/3/5, Santorin (Gragas) 1/1/8, Bjergson (Kog’Maw) 4/2/3, WildTurtle (Tristana) 3/1/2, and Lustboy (Janna) 0/1/11. Honestly even though TSM got the win they looked terrible doing so, TSM do not look like the TSM people are used to seeing and it could hurt them going into playoffs as well as Worlds. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Cloud 9: Champions played; Dyrus (Shen) 0/3/5, Santorin (Gragas) 1/2/3, Bjergson (Viktor) 2/2/1, WildTurtle (Sivir) 2/3/3, and Lustboy (Annie) 0/4/5. And yet another loss to Cloud 9, and again TSM looked terrible, they definitely didn’t deserve to win this game, and they will need to make use of the time they have to prepare for playoffs. Result: Loss. (1-1 on the week)
Team Dignitas – Game 1 vs CLG: Champions played; Gamsu (Shen) 2/3/5, Helios (Rek’Sai) 0/7/2, Shiphtur (Lulu) 3/4/2, CoreJJ (Kog’Maw) 4/3/4, and KiWiKiD (Braum) 0/3/6. Not a great showing against CLG, a team that they could be facing again in the playoffs, Dignitas like TSM has slowly been on the decline since week five, and they have a lot of fixing to do. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs Enemy Esports: Champions played; Gamsu (Jarvan) 8/1/7, Helios (Rek’Sai) 5/4/6, Shiphtur (Ezreal) 4/1/7, CoreJJ (Kog’Maw) 4/1/8, and KiWiKiD (Tresh) 0/1/10. A clean and controlled win over Enemy Esports, but Enemy is a team that is below Dignitas in the standings, and Dignitas has been struggling against those teams above them which is the issue. Result: Win. (1-1 on the week)
Team 8 – Game 1 vs Team Liquid: Champions played; CaliTrlolz8 (Fizz) 0/3/3, Porpoise8 (Gragas) 0/2/4, goldenglue (Viktor) 3/1/0, Nien (Corki) 3/3/2, and Dodo8 (Braum) 0/3/4. Not a great game from Team 8, but then again they were facing the likes of Liquid who have been on a hot streak. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs CLG: Champions played; CaliTrlolz8 (Rumble) 1/7/4, Porpoise8 (Rek’Sai) 0/4/3, goldenglue (Jayce) 2/4/2, Nien (Corki) 2/2/4, and Dodo8 (Alistar) 1/4/4. Just a very unlucky last week for Team 8 getting paired up against both Liquid and CLG. Team 8 really just had to chance, and to make matters worse since they weren’t able to pick up a win this week they have now dropped into 8th place. Result: Loss. (0-2 on the week)
Cloud 9 – Game 1 vs TDK: Champions played; Balls (Maokai) 0/5/7, Hai (Nunu) 2/5/6, Incarnati0n (Orianna) 2/3/5, Sneaky (Tristana) 5/4/4, and LemonNation (Karma) 0/5/7. A tough loss to TDK means that Cloud 9 have to get a win against TSM or else they will be stuck in 8th place and have to fight for their spot in the LCS. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs TSM: Champions played; Balls (Gnar) 0/2/10, Hai (Shvyana) 1/1/7, Incarnati0n (Orianna) 5/0/7, Sneaky (Tristana) 7/1/5, and LemonNation (Karma) 1/1/11. Cloud 9 seem to always have TSM’s number except when they face them in playoffs, but no worry of that this year. Still this win over Cloud 9 now means a safe 7th spot for them and will have to possibly look to next year to see what they can do, depending on the results of playoffs. Result: Win. (1-1 on the week)
Enemy Esports – Game 1 vs TSM: Champions played; Flaresz (Nautilus) 1/4/5, Trashy (Nidalee) 0/1/5, Innox (Viktor) 4/1/3, Otter (Jinx) 3/2/1, and Bodydrop (Morgana) 0/3/6. Despite losing they put up a pretty close game against TSM, but it just wasn’t enough in the end as they end up losing yet another game. Result: Loss.
Game 2 vs Team Dignitas: Champions played; Flaresz (Riven) 0/9/1, Trashy (Ekko) 4/0/2, Innox (Viktor) 0/4/2, Otter (Sivir) 2/2/2, and Bodydrop (Nautilus) 1/6/4. Much worse than their game against TSM, with a questionable champion pick coming from Flaresz that didn’t pay off, Enemy was dominated by Dignitas. Result: Loss. (0-2 on the week)
TDK – Game 1 vs Cloud 9: Champions played; Seraph (Kha’Zix) 7/2/6, Kez (Zac) 1/3/11, Ninja (Zed) 6/3/8, Emperor (Lucian) 8/0/8, and Smoothie (Tresh) 0/1/14. A great win for TDK, and a champion roster that definitely shows that they literally have nothing to lose, and TDK took it to Cloud 9 hard and picked up the win. Result: Win.
Game 2 vs Gravity: Champions played; Seraph (Kassdin) 7/1/10, Kez (Elise) 1/1/14, Ninja (Irelia) 7/1/7, Emperor (Draven) 5/2/6, and Smoothie (Tresh) 1/1/17. A great week for TDK, it’s just a shame they won’t be able to stay in the LCS as we finally get a glimpse of what their team can do as they took down both Cloud 9 and Gravity. Result: Win. (2-0 on the week)
And that wraps up the recap of the final week of regular season play in the NA LCS, where at the end we had a total of three *tiebreaker* games. The first was between Team 8 and Cloud 9 for 7th and 8th place, with Cloud 9 taking the victory. The second was between Team Impulse and Gravity for 3rd and 4th place, with Team Impulse grabbing the win. And the final game was between Team Liquid and CLG for 1st and 2nd place, with Team Liquid taking the win for that match. And now here is a look at the standings.
- Team Liquid (13-5) *(14-5)*
- (CLG) Counter Logic Gaming (13-5) *(13-6)*
- Team Impulse (12-6) *(13-6)*
- Gravity (12-6) *(12-7)*
- (TSM) Team Solo Mid (11-7)
- Team Dignitas (10-8)
- Cloud 9 (6-12) *(7-12)*
- Team 8 (6-12) *(6-13)*
- Enemy Esports (4-14)
- (TDK) Team Dragon Knights (3-15)
The NA LCS summer playoffs will also be starting in two weeks time, and the top six teams of the summer will be competing with the winner securing a spot in Worlds. The six teams in the NA playoffs are as follows; Team Liquid, CLG, Team Impulse, Gravity, TSM, and Team Dignitas. Here is a look at the playoff bracket.
And this week’s featured match-up between Team Liquid and Team Impulse, where it was probably the closest game both of the teams have had all season, and where the winner would find themselves in a tiebreaker for first place with CLG. Enjoy!
And that wraps up week 9 of League of Legends. Thanks for reading guys and gals, and as always, see you next time!!
