Ubisoft today announced that the recent Closed Beta for their upcoming Tom Clancy’s The Division saw 6.4 million players participate, in the process breaking the record for new IP’s on the current gen platforms.
Throughout the duration of the Tom Clancy’s The Division Beta across the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC players spent a grand total of 4 hours and 52 minutes as an activated sleeper agent, navigating through the pandemic- stricken streets of New York City. Over one-third of players time was spent inside The Division’s challenging player-versus-player environment – the Dark Zone, with more than 2.5 million players opting to go rogue.
Tom Clancy’s The Division Beta was a chance for developers Ubisoft to test out the games online infrastructure as well as the changes and new updates made to the game since the recent Closed Beta back in January. It also served as a chance for millions of players worldwide to try the game out for the first time and send their feedback to Ubisoft. With record breaking participation and engagement, Ubisoft are now looking ahead to The Division’s official release next month (March 8th).
Magnus Jansen, creative director for The Division had the following to say,
