Report: 2016’s Call Of Duty to have Sci-Fi Setting, will include Space Combat

According to reports, 2016’s Call of Duty title will be set in the future with a Sci-Fi setting featuring Space Combat. Developers, Infinity Ward [Modern Warfare, Ghosts] who are taking on the latest title in the franchise plan to take the series even further into the future than previously seen before. Past Call of Duty titles featured space combat including Call Of Duty: Ghosts which boasted a decent amount of space combat throughout the campaign while the Black Ops and Modern Warfare series have futuristic storylines.

The information was first mentioned by Shinobi602, who has a proven track record in the industry. Shinobi was replying to another NeoGAF user who had asked “Are we talking Battlefield 2142 style?”, Shinobi responded with the following;

Very far future. Space combat. Full on sci-fi.

The same story was later independently verified via Eurogamer who confirmed the next Call of Duty game would include space combat between “warring sci-fi groups.”

Rumours over the past few weeks had indicated that 2016’s Call of Duty title might be Call of Duty: Ghosts 2, this now seems to not be the case. Activision will showcase the latest game in the hugely popular franchise at E3 2016 this summer.
