After teasing the world with their constant changing social media and official website over the past couple of days, developer Rockstar Games has officially announced Red Dead Redemption 2, scheduled to release worldwide in fall 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.

With Red Dead Redemption 2, the team is working hard to push forward our vision for interactive entertainment in a truly living world,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We hope to deliver players an epic experience that builds upon everything we’ve learned making games.”

Earlier today, reports broke regarding the purchase of the domain name by Take-Two Interactive sparking new speculation that a new Red Dead game would feature a similar online standalone element found in Rockstar’s previous game Grand Theft Auto V.

Additionally, Rockstar Games will release a trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 on Thursday 20th October at 11am EST.
