Since the reveal announcement for Outlast 2, back in October of last year, developers, Red Barrels have been dropping small cryptic clues with regards to where the studio plan to take the follow up to the hugely popular Outlast. Today the Candian-based development studio have released yet another breadcrumb in the build up to possibly more information to come over the coming month (Red Barrels are due to appear at Pax East April 22-24).
Earlier today, Red Barrels shared a new video via their YouTube Channel with regards to Outlast 2. The short minute long video shows an inverted cross in the middle of a darkened sky while backward ramblings of a man appear throughout when reversed the audio offers yet another clue to a possible religious theme for Outlast 2. When played backwards the following can be heard.
“Children, you lovers of god and … of his paradise all our years of suffering come together now in this glorious day of … in the corrupt and filthy … on the fourth month and twenty second day of the 16th year of the 3rd millennium our reckoning begins. waits at the … for this world… thirst for blood and we like the angels must show no mercy. god loves you”
The short video which mentions the same date that Red Barrels appear at Pax East in Boston, MA is titled Jude 1:14-15, which is a direct reference from the bible that reads,
“14: It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, 15: to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”…
It would certainly seem that religion will play a major role in the upcoming Survival Horror title, hopefully, over the coming months, we will have more information regarding Outlast 2, including a possible interview with Red Barrels themselves.
