During the eight minute long video Kaplan made the announcement that post launch, all additional Overwatch Heroes and Maps will be patched in as free content and not DLC.

On the topic of post launch additional Heroes and Maps;

“So, there’s been some worry and concern about this, as you guys know we’re really excited about the twenty one heroes that are in the game, we feel like they are playing really well right now. They’re balanced, they’re fun, they’re very unique characters, we’re very proud of those characters. But we have ideas for additional maps and heroes that we’d like to add to the game, so we thought about this and decided the best way to add them to the game is to patch them in as free content and not as DLC. ”
