Phil Spencer Confirms Games Already Under Development For Project Scorpio

Xbox Head, Phil Spencer has confirmed that developers are already hard at work on “hardware, platform and games” for Project Scorpio, slated for a holiday 2017 release.

Announced this past June during Microsoft’s E3 Media Briefing, Project Scorpio is a mid-generation upgrade for the current generation console, allowing players to experience Xbox One titles with a 4K resolution. But what game’s could Xbox’s head honcho be referring to?

Well, after Xbox’s Head of Marketing Aaron Greenberg confirmed in July that there will be no Project Scorpio Exclusives, thus putting to bed any idea of players being forced to upgrade to Scorpio, it’s more than likely that upcoming Microsoft Exclusives Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Recore and Sea of Thieves will make an appearance on Project Scorpio with 4K support, while delayed titles such as Scalebound could also feature.

Phil Spencer would also confirm that the goal for Project Scorpio is indeed 4K TV’s but that it would also work for TV’s that support HDR.

According to Trusted Reviews, HDR is “The ability to display a wider and richer range of colours, much brighter whites, and much deeper, darker blacks. This gives the TV picture a more ‘dynamic’ look, which is where the name comes from. HDR content preserves details in the darkest and brightest areas of a picture that are lost using current standards. It also allows for more natural, true-to-life colours that are closer to how we see them in real life.”

Project Scorpio is slated for a 2017 release.
