Diablo 2 Receives First Patch in Five Years

Blizzard’s absolutely amazing Diablo 2 is still going strong. Blizzard announced the game has received a compatibility patch to keep the game playable on the latest operating systems and hardware.

Here’s an excerpt from the Battle.net Forums post:

“This update focuses on system glitches introduced by modern operating systems. In related news, you can finally retire those old Mac PowerPCs. Included with the update is a shiny new installer for OSX.

We’ve also begun working to improve our cheat-detection and hack-prevention capabilities. There’s still work to be done, but we’re making improvements every day.”

Diablo 2 was released back in 2000, and it’s incredible to see a large studio supporting a game so old, despite working on sequels and new IPs.
