Crackdown 3 developers, Sumo Digital take over development of Dead Island 2

It’s a game many thought was cancelled, with delays and different information being relayed around the internet. But now Deep Silver have announced that Sumo Digital, the developers behind games like Little Big Planet and the Forza Horizon series among many others, are taking over development of the highly-anticipated addition to the Dead Island series, Dead Island 2.

The game was originally being developed by Spec Ops the Line developers, Yager but Deep Silver pulled them off the game stating “Yager and Deep Silver’s respective visions of the project fell out of alignment, which led to the decision that has been made.

Speaking to MCV, Koch Media CEO Dr Klemens Kundratitz  had this to say about the new partnership

“Sumo showed so much understanding of the brand, had creative ideas and an excellent, vision that was aligned with our own, It just made perfect sense for us to move the project to them.

We will reveal more details at a later stage, but for now I’d like to say that we are obviously super excited about the progress that we are making with them.”

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with the latest news regarding the game.
