Battlefield 1 Latest Video Showcases Fighter Planes, Tanks And Special Classes

DICE has released another video in the Battlefield 1 series, focusing on the vehicles players will be using when the game launches this October on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Vehicles in Battlefield have always played a big part, it’s part of the all-out warfare and pushing the sandbox experience to the limit,” says Andreas Morrel, Multiplayer Producer at DICE.

While fighter planes, heavy bombers and twin-seater planes dominate the sky in Battlefield 1, one of the largest innovations in armoured warfare was, of course, the tank, “They were invented in this time, in this place to serve a special purpose“, says Design Director Lars Gustavsson. “We wanted them to be big physical brutal beasts that essentially dominate the battlefield and you (players) should be scared of it“, added Andreas.

In DICE’s latest video we get to see a new and exciting addition for Battlefield 1 with Pilot and Tanker class, a unique class given to players upon spawning in a tank or plane respectively in Battlefield 1. The addition will add a new level of depth to the Battlefield series and no doubt change the way players view hopping in and out of vehicles in multiplayer matches, “The idea here is that if you are in a tank you should playing a character that is specialised in taking care of his tank, to run his tank, to be as efficient as possible with the vehicle you choose“, says Lead World Designer, Daniel Berlin.

But it’s not just the vehicles that DICE have been working tirelessly on, with big improvements to both the game’s psychics and destruction, a combination that should further the sandbox experience of Battlefield 1.

Battlefield 1 launches October 21st on Xbox One, PS4 and Origins for PC.
