Inside, Overwatch, Firewatch and Uncharted 4 Lead 2017 Game Developers Choice Award Nominations

Today, organisers for the 17th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards, a ceremony celebrating the industry’s top games, studios and developers announced its nominees for all 14 categories including the coveted Game of the Year award.

Limbo developer, Playdead lead the way with Inside nominated for 6 awards including Best Narrative and Game of the Year. Blizzard Entertainment and Campo Santo follow with 5 nominations for Overwatch and Firewatch respectively, while Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has 3 nominations alongside id Software’s first-person shooter DOOM.

The Game Developers Choice Awards also recognise three individuals with the following Special Awards categories: Pioneer, Ambassador and Lifetime Achievement. The recipients of the special awards will be announced in the near future. The Audience Award category, which will be open to all Choice Award finalists, will open for online voting in late January.

Founder of Double Fine Productions Tim Schafer will return as host of the awards show for a sixth time, having previously hosted the Choice Awards in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015.

The Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony takes place Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 at 6:30pm at the San Francisco Moscone Center.

Better known as RzrsS in the video game scene, Stephan Rodts has been playing video games for nearly his entire life. He started out shooting poor ducks out of the sky in Duck Hunt on the Nintendo, but now shoots everything that moves. Be warned.
