Halloween is finally upon us. The annual opportunity to don outfits and fix that make up in order to scare the crap out of unsuspecting local residents, while relieving them of their candy based treats. While most might opt to masquerade as a witch, werewolf or even Count Dracula himself, others go that extra mile and a half to get a fright or two out of their fellow man.
One of the best places to draw inspiration from when looking to impress on October 31st is video games. The horror genre is jam packed with great ideas to help you stand out this holiday and we’ve picked 6 of the best costumes from some of the most iconic horror games of the past 20 years.
The Evil Within
Bethesda’s The Evil Within is a haunting game for so many different and wonderful reasons but its iconic Keeper has to rank up there as one of the most terrifying monsters you’ll encounter in the genre or anywhere for that matter. With a heavy safe box for a head and a large meat tenderizer as a weapon to beat you utterly senseless, The Keeper’s are a true force to be reckoned with. Don’t believe us? just ask poor old Sebastian.
Fresh from lurking in the dark woods, Slenderman takes a break from preventing you collecting that last page stuck to the outside of a bastard tree to feature in the cosplay below. The faceless villain of so many player nightmares looks outstanding and would be a relatively easy costume to pull off this Halloween.
Although Dr. Richard Trager is essentially a male antagonist, the following oh so brilliant Outlast cosplay (seen below) proves that even the ladies can get in on the act this Halloween.
Pyramid Head is right up there with the best of the villains the horror genre has to offer. Wielding a giant sword large enough to peel the very flesh from your bone and an iconic dark pyramid for a head, the ever so slow moving nightmarish character from the fictional ghost town of Silent Hill looks fantastic in this cosplay.
From Softwares PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne is another great option for this Halloween. If you fancy trading in your cheap plastic store bought fangs blood and cape for a more Gothic meets Victorian-era monster slaying hunter look.
I think it’s safe to say we’d all rather forget Capcom’s Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for one reason or another but that doesn’t prevent the game from producing one of the better cosplays around. Dr. William Birkin never looked so good, I mean, just look at that eye! jeez, someone needs to go to Specsavers…
Well, that’s our look at some of the best Halloween cosplays around. Whatever you decide to go as this Halloween, be sure to stay safe and for the love of god, please don’t go giving elderly residents a stroke.
